23-11-2018 Decarbonization of the elctricity generation in Chile
The commitments taken by Chile in the Paris Convention of 2015 will imply a significant reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, in particular of carbon emissions. The research consists in determining the carbon emissions reductions in the generation sector, the costs of these reductions and the equivalent price of carbon. The study should identify the different cost-efficient mechanisms available to the country in order to reduce emissions, in particular, the availability of renewable resources, and imports of natural gas from Argentina. The study will use an existing programing of a computational model of the Chilean electricity system, and that will be improved for the purposes of the study.
